Frequently asked questions

What you may want to know first about tracking, data, privacy and billing.

How do I start tracking?

Sign up, download the client and connect it with an API key. Then use the supported AI tools and editors as you normally would — the data syncs to your dashboard automatically.

Will my code be uploaded?

No. Only duration, project name, model, token usage and changed line counts are recorded; file contents are never read or uploaded. The clients and plugins are open source, so you can verify this yourself.

Which tools and platforms are supported?

Over 20 AI coding tools including Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI, Copilot and OpenCode, plus VS Code and the JetBrains editors. The client runs on macOS, Windows and Linux.

What are the limits of the free plan?

History is kept indefinitely, and the free plan can view the last 30 days. Pro can view the full history and adds WakaTime imports and the weekly digest.

Can I cancel my subscription anytime?

Yes. After cancelling you keep Pro until the end of the current billing period, then return to the free plan automatically. Your history is not deleted.

Will my data be public?

Everything is private by default. Data becomes public only after you turn on the leaderboard or a public profile yourself; your name, region, stack, daily trend and token usage are each configured separately.
